Canadian military's template for perfect recruits outdated: Vance

Canadian military's template for perfect recruits outdated: VanceThe man who leads the Canadian Armed Forces says military leaders have failed to grasp the importance of recruiting more women and minorities, partly because they have for too long relied on an antiquated template for recruits. Gen. Jonathan Vance, the chief of defence staff, told a defence and security conference Saturday that the military has to change because the very nature of warfare is changing, particularly when it comes to cyber-warfare. "I think we ... stand accused of looking backwards and seeing what worked in the past and keeping (those practices) going forward," Vance told the Halifax Security Forum, which has attracted more than 300 experts, politicians and military officials from around the world.

Canada's defence spending questioned at NATO parliamentary meeting

Canada's defence spending questioned at NATO parliamentary meetingThe deputy minister of national defence has told a NATO meeting in Halifax that Canada is satisfied it is spending what it requires to meet its alliance and other military commitments. Jody Thomas held fast to the government's stance on defence spending on Saturday, despite some pointed questioning about Canada's commitment following her presentation before NATO's defence and security committee, part of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Halifax. U.S. Republican congressman Michael Turner, the committee's acting chairman, asked whether Canada intends to table a plan for meeting the two per cent of GDP standard for defence spending that was agreed to by alliance members at a summit in Wales in 2014.

U.S., China trade barbs on tariffs as Trudeau meets with Pacific island leaders

U.S., China trade barbs on tariffs as Trudeau meets with Pacific island leadersLeaders from the world's two biggest economies put Canada and its allies in the position of picking sides in the battle for world influence, as the United States and China outlined different visions for trade and investment on Saturday. The tit-for-tat tough speeches on the first day of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders summit — bringing together 21 countries that account for 60 per cent of the world's economy — framed the discussion that is expected to carry over Sunday when the leaders gathered here, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, try to hammer out a final agreement on a path forward for trade. There are no plans at the moment for Trudeau to have a one-on-one meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping — although he has had opportunities to bump into his Chinese counterpart, both in the hallways of the busy summit and at a gala dinner Saturday night.

What are your business needs?

Exposure is an essential element of a successful business. Customer need to know who you are, what you offer, and how to contact you. What better opportunity is there for exposure or promotion than the Internet? The Internet offers full color, 24/7 availability, low costs, and millions of users! Should the Internet be your only source of advertising? Of course not, people still read the newspaper, grab the phone book, listen to the radio and watch television. But the growth of Internet users cannot be ignored. Every successful business should have a web presence to maximize their exposure.

The simple fact is that the more links, which lead to your site from other websites, the more success your site will have. 85% of all users use the top search engines to locate their desired information. All top search engines view each link from another site, which connects to your site, as a vote in it's popularity when ranking your website in search results. Also, the more popular the sites which link to your website are, the more influential their vote counts towards your site as well. The top search engines now give this single factor top importance in determining a site's rank in search results. In fact some will not even list your site until it is linked from another site. The word or words in the text of text links which lead to each site, the size & boldness, and the location on the page where the links are located (i.e. top or bottom) all have varying degrees of influence on both how sites are ranked by the search engines when someone does a search for specific keywords and the direct amount of qualified prospects they produce. Purchasing fixed banner & text link advertising on our sites will increase your brand's visibility, help your site's ranking in the top search engines, increase it's targeted visitor traffic, and improve your sales revenues.

Community Plus ranks top ten at Google, Yahoo and basically all search engines.
